Win/loss forms for Tas purposes

I played last year in 3 casinos. I would like to get my win/loss forms for tax purposes. The casinos ask for my social security number, not sure why. I am concerned about giving them my ssn, not sure what are the consequences. Do they acutally send these forms to the IRS. Any advice will be appreciated.

They as for your SSN

to verify that it is you. These forms are not sent to anyone except you. Win/Loss statements, by themselves, are not generally acceptable as documentation in an attempt to offset wins with losses on your tax forms. It is just too easy to manipulate slot and table game results for win/loss statements to be taken very seriously by the IRS. However, if that's all you've got it's better than nothing. The IRS prefers a contemporaneous diary of play results kept by the player.
