Yes, if both are you. :) IE if you are more interested in trying to maximize penetration then wouldn't it be better to play two hands _yourself_ so that the good cards aren't eaten by another player?

You want the max hands dealt before shuffle. If all the cards get dealt to you, so much the better. Nothing like playing a 1D game, seeing the count get to +6, and the three players around you get the 20/21 hands while you get a pair of fours or whatever. :)
Big count means _somebody_ is going to get big cards. I'd rather it be me... The most money I every won in a single session was about $9500 a few weeks back on an unexpected jaunt to the Beau (2d game). I played with one other player for a good while, but he left suddenly with a good count and the head-to-head for the next 8 hands or so was outstanding. That is where you can make some money.
All the stats I see say number of players doesn't really affect your EV, but most only consider number of rounds, not considering that you can play 5x (or better) the rounds per hour with just you at the table.
