Who is Viktor Nacht?

Who is Viktor Nacht?
Before he acquired RGE I had not heard the name. His name has not been attached to any book or software. He has no pedigree at all.
A glance at the google archives shows no contributor of that name, and he did not post at bj21 or any other major blackjack forum under that alias. Nor he has demonstrated any expertise in advantage play publicly.
His bio at RGE is sketchy. Is there someone who will vouch for him? Can we be certain he has no casino or Griffin affiliations? RGE has had problems with this sort of thing before, with its round table conventions, and the mysterious Bev.

I ask because I recently received an anonymous e-mail stating that Nacht had Griffin affiliations, and was the ultimate source (though not the sender) of the post with sensitive information sent to this forum recently. I tend not to believe this: I'm not a conspiracy theorist and Nacht seems to have the pathology of the vast majority of garden variety counters I've been unfortuate enough to encounter. However, I'd like some evidence before I can dismiss the notion.

I guess this e-mail with the veiled threat that Victor Nacht works for Griffen has nothing to do with the fact that he called you a "fraud" on his site last night due to your usual smoke and mirrors posts you had put up on his site.

Yeah, the 'great' John May didn't feel the need to defend the nonsense you posted on RGE. Instead he felt that posting some slander over here would be more appropriate.

2 days after Victor publicly dissed you on RGE on the main free page, you just happened to recieve this anonymous email. Here are the quotes:

Arnold Snyder has already vouched for him. I suppose your comments apply to Arnold as well. Now you've really done it. But then again, this isn't anymore ridiculous than any of your other half-witted theories and writings. It seems the gambling historian, John May, wants a little revenge on Victor.

I know him. He is not a security risk. On the contrary, on behalf of all advantage players, and his customers, he is one of the most security concious people I know.

His two-part article on internet security in last winter, and spring's Blackjack Forum is an excellent example of his concern for players' security.

Does this unsubstantiated inflammatory post not contravene PB guides 7 and 10, if not 19?

First, I think that it is legitimate to question the credentials of a Blackjack commentator. I also know very little about Viktor. We know that Arnold had taken him as a partner at one time, and then later turned RGE over to him. That tells us something about him. But it doesn�t really say about his expertise otherwise. As for questioning Viktor's credentials, who cares what his credentials are? Generally speaking, a man's incompetence speaks for itself and it would not matter if it were brought up by the greatest blackjack player in the history of the world or an illiterate kindergartener. Questioning the credentials of an accurate critic instead of attempting to defend against the critique is a shameless sidestepping maneuver, though, considering the indefensibility of the position and the nature of the recipient of the criticism, this sidestepping tactic comes as no surprise.

Anyhow, I think this thread is just another in a long line of attempts to duck and weave on the part of Mr. May, while the most accurate and, more or less, final post on this matter is over at rge where John is apparently afraid to respond.

This is such total bullshit that I do not even know why I am bothering to respond, other than to defend a close personal friend, who has only the interests of the advantage player community at heart.

Does anyone reading this honestly think that people like James Grosjean, Arnold Snyder, Don Schlesinger, not to mention myself, would ally themselves with someone whose credentials were not impeccable?

Let Don stick to what Don does. I can decide for myself what other avenues I want to pursue.

What does this have to do with Don? I thought John was bashing Viktor and questioning his credentials in a vane attempt to redirect the discussion here and elsewhere from his own inadequacies.

Tell you the truth I love Don's book. I think it is great. But it didn't make me the money.

I don't like Don's book at all but that really has nothing to do with allegations of fraudulence directed at John May.

So I am content to let everyone pursue whatever dogma makes them happy. But before censoring - please have some facts.

Here's a newsflash: Just because you think John May is a fraud doesn't mean you're buying into some sort of rge dogma. It just means you have some common sense when it comes to advantage play and credibility in general.

Posting here is one way -- polling the GC community at random while also giving out just enough information so that we see what concerns you. But, please, contact these people individually, by email, by phone, or even in person. That is the only way.

Snyder himself did casino consulting work. I consider his credentials less than impeccable. Karel Janeck, an expert at RGE, did consulting work, I consider his credentials less than impeccable. Don Schlesinger hangs out with so many casino employees and bends over backwards to apologize for their behaviour I've lost count.
None of these individuals are professional players. The interests are not the same as those of professional players. I grow tired of the patronizing comments by individuals who would not last twenty minutes in a casino without a sizeable primary income.

I can't respond at RGE because Parker deleted my responses. My replies were not profane. I was asking Nacht to provide a criticism of my work, as I do not believe he has read my books.

I believe he is merely echoing Schlesinger's opinion, because he is the type of weak individual who takes his lead from strident alpha male types.

This, (really) is not about that. It seems clear he has no credentials as such so that is not really an issue. I did not entertain the thought for the second his opinion concerning my work was based on substance so I was not asking about that.

I did say I didn't believe it. In a perfect world allegations like this should not be repeated. However, I believe the allegations were "supported" to this extent-the havoc reeked at bj21 recently was down to an individual known as an associate of James Grosjean, an expert at RGE. I heard nothing about team censure of this individual, and no condemnation. In the past it seemed this individual was being used to attack me personally on behalf of Grosjean, in order to preserve Grosjean's image. It seemed as if this individual was behaving as if he were RGE's paramillitary wing.

Regarding Snyder, I do not believe Snyder would have worked with a Griffin agent, knowingly, but is difficult to see how he could have vetted Nacht effectively. False ID's are easy to come by. Snyder's "Round Table" meetings were infiltrated before. Questions were also asked, most prominently by Wong here at bj21, about Bev, the original host at RGE. Some said she was a Griffin agent, others denied it.

Yes, but I tend to judge people on their actions, not their words, and his reaction to the revelation of Janeck's casino consulting work was, to say the least, pathetic.

Grosjean is good friends with stalker, Arnold and Viktor no longer associate with each other, and Don has even got into a flame war with DD' (of all people) on BJmath.
