WHAT THE HELL HAPPENED TO THIS FREE BOARD!

I have no problem with Stanford & Co moving the regional boards to Green Chip.
Perhaps I am too mercenary, but I always felt that for free, there should be one basic page and the "extra goodies" should be a benefit of joining Green Chip. Its just good basic business, and in fact, most internet based companies operate that way: You get a small basic service for free, but for the better stuff, you need to pay something.
I'm sure that some feel this is being too profit driven, but a business must turn a profit, and cannot do so by giving away the whole cow for free.
Just my unimportant little opinion.

nice to be able to ask and even answer a few questions on a site ,where I wasn't the person with the least knowledge(maybe) and the smallest bankroll.

Is there any free midwest board? I enjoyed many of the people and I live in the midwest. Unfortunately I feel there is no point in my using the board much any more. I understand the mathematical concepts of blackjack, card counting, and possibilities of winning. I liked seeing stories of peoples adventures. I also liked watching the Vegas board to give me an idea of where to start when I travel. The barbecue reccomendations from the Kansas City folk were wonderful. Unfortunately the blackjack community I enjoyed being a part of seems to be gone. I find no point in purchasing the green or black chip boards. I find most the time a person claims to have a new idea it always turns out to be the same information spun a different way. I do not buy CBJN because I can already tell if a game is playable or not. I will miss you midwest brethren. I was in it for the fellowship. Please keep squeezing nickles out of the teets of the big boss man.

Have those deviance dogs ripped out your will to play? Tired of that Mystic grind.....no Treasures at the Island?

Funny, but Jojo said a similar thing recently about not learning anything new on these pages.... but at least we can have a good time telling stories. I miss your trip reports. Now you can post anything at all 'cause the postbusters are all off for the holidays.

Have at it, Milk. those northern winters are way too cold to be taken with nostalgia. Pull up a chair and some steaming hot cocoa and let's curl some hair with that midwestern homespun yarn-spinning talent you have shown us time and again.

If you start a midwest thread here, I guarantee it will generate some interest. When there are fifty responses to a progressionist thread you know the people here are bored....

I've read probably 3/4 or more of the posts on this thread, which, I think, maybe, I started. But I tanked 'cause I think maybe everything which could be said has been said.

But back to my original gripe. I'll try to frame it better in the cold light of the snow drifted dawn rather than the adult beverage-influenced prose of my original post.

For years, I have had great fun and enjoyment posting on this board using all sorts of screen names, which usually were jokes. Moby, Dharma Bum, etc. I loved the freedom of putting my worthless opinions out there and having people come back at me, sometimes, even agreeing with my warped opinions. It was a great joy to be able to post, not reasoned blackjack math-weenie diatribes, but stupid progression ideas which hit me in the middle of the night. There was that wild, crazy, internet freedom about this board which, evidently, now is lost.

At least I'm old enough now, having nursed both my mother and father through dementia and alzheimers, to know that the end of everything is not pretty.

Is there still a spot on this site that seperates the different parts of the US? There used to be an icon that would say "Vegas BJ", or "California BJ". Did they get rid of that? I am sure that you can get the same info here, but you just have to sift through a bunch of stuff. I guess we can't complain with a free site and all! It is funny how we take things for granted.

I think you found your own answer. When the flames get fanned here, there is often quite a forest fire. Mr. Matthews and the postbusters had to take far too much time keeping up with the posts.

The emphasis now is on time..not so much category. Anything you want to post is fine..(my lonely opinion, I know)...so don't sweat the losses of the regional pages. It's worth the money to join green chip for regional discussions.

One other thing I can suggest is that you run a search or start a new thread. Even with this somewhat outdated version of WebBBS you can find topic and contents searches on this site can be fruitful.

btw that was a honorable thing you did for the parents, i respect you very much for that.
