Where's Outside USA, Vegas BJ, etc?
Where's Outside USA, Vegas BJ, etc?
If you want specialized discussion areas, you need to join Green Chip.
Now we are being forced to join Greenchip to access areas that was once free. How disappointing is that?
Everyone's greed eventually prevails. There's usually some excuse given to justify the greed (i.e. this keeps annoying posters out, etc).
You've lost some respect from people like myself Mr Wong.
if $3 a month is going to bust your budget.
I am happy to pay seventy five cents a week to get current information on the game.
It is hard to understand why this is such a critical decision for some people. when they turn around and call Stanford a money grubber, it really pisses me off. If you don't want to ante up, don't play.
Yes, the best stuff is on green chip, and for good reason. We like a minimum commitment. We want people who will contribute. Sorry, happy hour is free. Meals are not comped.

If you don't like the scene, your money will be cheerfully refunded. I guarantee one way or the other your curiosity will be satisfied.

... a host of other knowledgeable blackjack players, too numerous to mention here.
GC is worth the price of admission and much more.
I never said that money was a problem for me. I said that I was disappointed that pages that were was once free are now being charged for via Greenchip membership.
If Greenchip was that good, how come it couldn't exist as it was? If the main reason for joining Greenchip was to read higher quality posts, then why did the separate free pages suddenly become a privelage for Greenchip members only? Hmmm...sounds to me like a sneaky strategy to increase Greenchip memberships.
As for as not wanting to "ante up"...let's not forget that those banners that plague the free pages (oops, I mean free PAGE), generates income for this site based on hits to the site. So the more people that enter this free page, then the better the hit stats look to determine banner fees. It's a bit like putting up with lots of commercials when watching free-to-air TV stations.
Not everyone is such a hardcore Blackjack player. I play maybe once every 3 months. I just like to read the interesting posts here, but I would not pay for that privelage.
Stanford has got my hit to the site, he can sell banners fees because of people like me. If I'm going to hand over money, I'd rather donate 75 cents a week to an animal shelter, where it would do some good in this world.
You pay Stanford whatever you want, but please don't try to use guilt & insult tactics to get others to pay for a service that they do not want to spend their money on.
There was nothing insulting in my post, with the possible exception of my assumption that money was the issue. I can see that this is not so.
The free page is lively and evidently is still filled with great contributions from green chip members. I like the new format, since it streamlines my searches. I think there is still a lot to be found on the free page, but now it has it's own character and is not a mimicry of the green pages.
Stanford has often said that the primary source of income for BJ21 is memberships and retail sales, not advertising. If an outgrowth of the new format is increased memberships for green chip, so much the better. Green chip is exactly the same as before, but with more pages than before since Green Chip members voted for 'Vegas Life' and 'Books and Software' to be continued on the green pages, instead of being assimilated into other forums.
All I am saying is enjoy your free page, but please don't insult Stanford while you partake. It still pisses me off that people insult him with being greedy....I was not just referring to your observations. He has plenty of hits going on on SharpSportsbetting.com and I seriously doubt that his decisions, with lots of input from green chippers, were primarily guided by profit. Before the changes it was a lot like administering two complete sites, with the attendant doubled heachaches and workload. If this new format means you have to be a member, at least you can be a member for free. I joined green chip a year ago because I sought more specific and focused advise....it has since paid off handsomely. There are some amazing players who regularly contribute on green chip.
I don't think you should feel guilty, I am just suggesting that the green chip pages are a bargain. If Stanford wanted to maximize profits he would also sell advertising on the green pages. This is not the case.
If you are an occasional player who is looking for entertaining and often surprisingly helpful posts from more dedicated players, then my opinion is that the free pages are an excellent find. You can express your opinions freely and be a part of the mix without any commitment other than offering an e-mail address. I hope you get past the disappointment you feel about the new format and have a good time here. No topic is considered out of bounds, even discussions about the loss of information to free members who are occasional players but fans of the game, none the less.

they are located in Free Archives. Check out the archives. Only greenchip posts are on the pages that are in the Green Chip area. You still don't have to spend your money for the free info. It's just all on one page now. Not too difficult to figure out.
before I choked up the cash for GC. Money is not really a problem for me, I'm just incredibly tight in certain matters.
If you play only every 3 months maybe it's not worth it to join GC but there is a lot of value on Free as well as a pile of free info elsewhere on the Internet-notice the Other Links to the left (a nice benefit in itself, provided by that greedy Stanford).
A lot of GC members jump to the defense of the paid pages because we know the value. If your interest in the game becomes more serious it is a good investment.
Like you, sometimes I wonder why people who's willing to win/lose hundreds if not thousands of dollars, find it difficult to pay nominal value for information that can significantly improve their chances of winning.
Green chip fees are so low that they are laughable.
....stop ordering Wendy's singles* and get the Junior Bacon Cheeseburger for 99 cents instead of 2.19, and start signing up.
* Unfortunately the healthy choice, the chicken sandwich is 2.59!
Seriously, I see people complaining about the strangest thing. They are furious gas costs $1.49 a gallon, yet pay $5 for 22 ounces of coffee, and $2 for a pint of water. Similarly, green chip is so cheap, it's laughable. How could anyone call it expensive? It's outstanding entertainment for basically no cost.
GO TO ANY PARK PLACE PROPERTY, and get 1 match book. Flush the match plays, and sign up.
