Wandering eyes

I just got a demo of the $90 CVBJ and I love it. Sometime when I have some spare cash, it is on the top of my to buy list if only for the entertainment and the RoR/bankroll/variance information that I never would have been able to figure out on my own. Looking at some of the formulas used to derive those things has also helped considerably. Anyway, my blithering aside, I have only been drilling BS and I decided to try counting and then my mind was blown at how different counting at a table is as opposed to counting down a deck. I think I could get used to it fairly quick with adequate practice, but I was hoping for some tips and direction in where I should be looking, when. All support is appreciated.

A link to a simple "free" game is included. There are others available. Nothing will take the place of actual casino play so try to be preparred by having your BS and indice numbers down pat (especially the most common ones) so they are second nature. When first playing for real, try to pick a crowded cheap minimum table limit game and sit as far from first base as possible. This will give you more time to think before your turn to play. I would not worry about proper bet spreads until you are comfortable and have confidence in the accuracy of your play. It's like learning to drive. Everything you need to know and do can seem overwhelming at first but gets easier and more natural with experiance. Concentrate on being as accurate as possible with the count. Without this accuracy, nothing else will matter. That is why BS and indice numbers should be pre-programed into your mind and not be another thing to overly "think" about. There will be enough distractions at the table to keep your mind occupied. Oh, and of coarse have fun.

If such a small expenditure needs to be put off due to lack of cash, you should concentrate on building a bankroll. It appears that might involve making blackjack programs and books the only things on your "buy list."

I think that it might be acceptable, in my case, to not worry about building a bankroll immediately. I am not going to need a decent bankroll in the next couple of months. I may not need one for a year or two even. I just find learning something new, in this case counting cards, to be an enjoyable endeavor, with the equipment being worth the expense without getting an immediate pay out. I think, before concentrating on building a bankroll as has been suggested to me quite often, I should learn how to play the game advantageously for fun in my spare time, while slowly accruing a decent bankroll and not necessarily making the bank roll my top priority. Everyone is, of course, entitled to their own opinions.
