Tunica was good, trip was....

BAD!! Hollywood, Sams Town, and Fitz were the only good games in town. Fitz was the best. Had great dealers with good pen. but the gods of luck would not cooperate. I lost every max bet hand and almost every single had that I doubled or split. It was one of those situations where you actually begin to think "god" doesn't like you and is punishing you at the BJ table.

Anyways, wife did great on slots (amazing) and I got a little carried away on the last day of our trip with these damn "wheel of fortune" machines. Played the quarter machine with the intention of just playing until I got a "spinner" (we like to watch it spin) and it never did ($20 bucks), so I moved over to a 50 cent machine and tried again, $60 dollars later NO SPIN. SO-- I decided the dollar machines must have higher payouts/frequency so we went over to those and I stuck in a $100 bill, hit max bet and watched as the wheels spun 33 times to no avail. Finally, pissed off and steaming I stepped up the the $5 dollar wheel o fortune machine and drops in $300. You guessed it-- not a single spinner or payout (I think I got one cherry, twice). And there you have it-- that's how I left Tunica, on the most down of down feelings ever.

I can't wait to go back.

I can understand how people get a decent game from Fitz from time to time. Just never accept a food comp. But Sam's Town and Hollywood? I thought just about every casino had a better game for counting than those two.

That might explain why I dropped like a stone in water at BJ and then to follow it up I stuck hundreds and hundreds of dollars in a stupid slot machine (which I usually never play). Oh well, perhaps it was just the fact that I brought the wife along (her first trip there) and spent most of my time on a grand-tour with her. We did have a beautiful room at the Goldstrike comped for us after spending a terrible first night at Fitz (really, REALLY bad rooms).

In theory, the Hollywood has all those 98% payback games. And a reasonable cashback percentage. So if I were to play slots right now with no angle, I would go to the Hollywood.

I have often warned on the dangers of spending the night at the Fitz! If you stay in the Gold Strike again, check the dresser. I once found a half-empty bottle of bourbon in one. Left it there. Someday I'll ask for that room number to see if the bottle is still there. Hope they don't catch me when I am in town next week spreading 1-8 in purple on their single deck game. I'll be the woman with the eyepatch and a missing 3 fingers on one hand. It is my new disguise.

Also, there is a pool on which Gold Strike executive host will leave their position next. I have "Sharon" right now. "Rocky" won the last pool. "Harold" is winning the fell-the-farthest-the-fastest sidebet so far this year. There are plenty of squares open if anyone wants to claim a host. I'll ask Pi Yee to send a nice money pouch to the winner on my account.

I agree with Math Boy regarding the games at Hollywood and Sam's Town. Usually those aren't the places good BJ can be found.

Why are you playing slots? AP's play games where there is an advantage. Getting mad and throwing more money away on games you shouldn't be playing to begin with isn't going to help your BR.
Of course, maybe you're just a recreational gambler that's having fun losing money.

All of this feedback comes from experience and listening, and taking, the advice of the serious players on these forums.

Money to spend on the slots as well. I know all about the percentages and how slots are wasting my time/money etc. etc. The plain fact is that if you go back and read my original report I was on a "tour guide" mission to show my wife around and have fun. Now unless you know some secret about how to count the cards, make the appropriate plays, stay outta the pit's radar, AND keep the wife entertained for four days, then please step up and let me know, otherwise be careful in thinking I am not an AP player just because I threw some money in a slot machine.

P.S.-- I took 4 grand on the trip, Goldstrike had no trouble putting me in a free room for the last 3 days and I never paid a dime for food anywhere-- I can afford the slot loss, and besides-- I love BJ and I love knowing I can grind out a profit over the long haul, but there is something to be said for hitting the big jackpot instantly that you just can't do with BJ.

Teach her to recognize good video poker when she sees it and how to play it. Hollywood has decent VP, as does Harrah's and, the last time I looked, Fitzgerald's still had a few quarter 9/6 machines, although that could have changed since it's been awhile for me to look at VP at Fitzgerald's.

That is one suggestion.

You knew what you were doing and were willing to accept the consequences. You took a shot a it, and unfortunately things didn't turn out well this time. The bottomline was it was your money.
