True Count Conversion Question

When Playing Shoe Games I've been converting my Running Count to True Count ( RC/Decks Remaining ). I have recently read where it was suggested that one should convert by 1/2 decks and use a divisor. In a 6 Deck Shoe Game if my Running count is +8 and 4 decks are in the discard tray , I would divide +8/2 = +4 TC. If I divide by half decks, +8/4 = +2 TC. I raise my bet to 2 units @ +2, and raise to 6 units @ +4. My qustion is..Am I over betting or under betting? Or am I totally confused? Please help....

Just stay with true count betting by calculating the number of decks remaining. Your playing and betting strategy was designed for that and to be able to accurately calculate your advantage or disadvantage. If you were being dealt past the 1 deck level then you would start multiplying to get true count. There is no need to make it harder than it is.

Sorry, my question wasn't very clear. I understand that I must convert to a TC. My question is, do I calculate the TC by dividing my running count by one-half decks remaining or by whole deck/s remaining in the shoe?

Example: A six deck game, I'm using Zen, there's two decks in the discard tray. My running count is +12. Should I calculate what the TC is by:

1. 12/4 = +3 TC ( 4 = number of whole decks remaining unseen )
2. 12/8 = + 1.5 TC ( 8 = number of 1/2 decks remaining unseen )

There are two versions of Zen, The Original Version which divides by whole decks and the 'True Edge" version which divides by quarter decks.

If you are using the Original Zen count (Count per Deck) your index numbers were calculated using the Count Per Deck method. If you decide to divide by half decks remaining instead all of your index numbers will be incorrect by a factor of two. Likewise, you will be betting incorrectly as well as each count per deck will be worth 0.64% instead of the normal 0.32%.

Plainly stating...if the system was designed for Count Per Deck then you should not take it upon yourself to do something differently unless you also take the time to re-calculate all of your index numbers and bet ramps to the new system.
