Sorry if this is a stupid question, but I was wondering when you're doing the TC conversion, do you estimate the number of unplayed decks left in the shoe BEFORE the cut card or do you just take into account the whole of the unplayed shoe, cut card and all behind it?

TC = RC / undealt cards
Doesn't matter whether the undealt cards are in front of the cut card or behind it, because the big and small cards are distributed among all the remaining cards...
...you need to count all UNSEEN cards, even if they have already been dealt. This should be an obvious point, but I'm not so sure that beginning counters always understand it. For example, one can't jump into the middle of a 6 deck game where 2 decks have already been played, and just magically start dividing RC/4 to get the true count, (unless you have stood behind the table the entire time and counted the first two decks).
