I need advice on tipping. I'm far too generous for a red chip bettor.
When I'm winning, I tip all the time (it doesn't seem to matter when the chips are piling up).
When losing I tip, foolishly hoping for some "luck".
The dealers love me, and heat is non-existent, but, obviously, I'm a loser.
How much can you tip, and how often, when you are a red chipper?

Never. You can only afford tipping dollars at the green chip level.
Don't believe anyone else. Your risk of ruin is ridiculously high almost 100% at the red chip level.
Because you are tipping for luck shows you are a supersticious gambler, no wonder you are loved by the pit. Even if you didn't tip a dime you would still lose. I dont think tipping is your problem.
5 to 25 earns about 13.00 an hour.5 to 20 earns 10.00 an hour.i wouldnt tip shit.if you play red it should be for fun because you cant make any real money with red.that is why i switched to green.i dont find the grind of live bj worth 13.00 an hour.thats w/o mistakes.save up your bankroll and start playing green.
This topic appears frequently on these pages and I generally agree with the above advice you've received. I've adapted that advice to my red chip play as follows (I generally play SD, spreading 1-5):
1. I never tip during a losing session.
2. I never tip if I'm in the midst of an over all trip loss, even if I'm in a winning session.
3. I never tip if anyone else at the table is tipping. Let them carry the load.
4. When I tip, I place a $1 bet for the dealer. I don't toss.
5. When I tip, I never place more than 2 $1 bets for the dealer per session (approximately one hour sessions).
What this all boils down to is I'll place up to $2 per winning session if I'm winning over all and no one else at the table is tipping.
My last trip was an over all $400 win over about 18 hours of play. I placed a total of $5 for the dealers, 3 of their bets won, so I guess that adds up to $8 that isn't in my bankroll due to tips.

Tipping is not manditory, and if your playing with red chips, why would you want to give anything up. Just say NO to tipping. If you happen to be winning alot and you want to give a little bit of it up, then go ahead. Otherwise, don't do it at all, and then there is nothing to think about.
