The Silverthorne Blackjack Strategy

I'm just a beginner, having learned basic strategy and used it to pretty much break even at the casinos here in Vancouver, I may not be winning much ($60 total playing) but at least I get to play for a few hours and not pay for it. I came across this site, http://www.casinogamblersbookcase.com/blackjack.htm while looking for more info in the KO system, and was just curious if anyone has tried it or if is worth getting or is it bunk.

If it seems too good to be true it usually is. Forty bucks is a little steep to satisfy my curiosity.

. . . for the casinos, and possibly for the con artists selling it. It will certainly not make any money for the poor sucker trying to actually use it.

It is obvious from the start. A quote:

"You can easily make $500, $1,000 or even $3,000 a day without learning to count cards!"

Another:

"My strategy, called The Silverthorne Blackjack Strategy, does not require a large bankroll. If you've got $75 you have enough to start winning with the strategy!"

Oh, really? A $75 bankroll!

And the real topper:

"You can learn exactly how to win at Blackjack in just a couple of hours. I promise you this."

A couple of hours . . . wow, the casinos are in trouble!

Or:

"How to build a Blackjack bankroll even if you only have pocket change! If you are a $1 bettor, you will start playing with $25 and even $100 chips in a few days � using your winnings as your new bankroll!"

Wow, I should be able to retire in three months or so, right?

Of course, this begs a couple of rather obvious questions:

Why would the originator of this system bother to write a book, create a website, etc., to hawk this "system" for $40? If it works half as well as he says, why isn't he relaxing on a island in the Caribbean somewhere?

More important, if it is so easy, why aren't more people doing it? And why would the casinos sit by and let people do it, if it worked?

And what is this mysterious system? Here is where you need to read no further:

"The cards tend to clump into groups that favor either the dealer or the player."

Oh, card clumping. Now, there's a proven concept. Proven to be a complete fallacy, that is. Voodoo, if you will. Snake oil.

This is about as legitimate as those e-mails you get telling you how you can make $50,000 in 90 days sending e-mail.

However, I gotta hand it to the guy. To the knowledgeable player, the website is pretty darn funny!

Frankly, I suspect that you are one of our little gang of wackos trolling again, but on the off-chance that you are ligit, I have responded seriously.

Besides, that website is a hoot!

On the second page, AFTER the card-clumping dealer-shuffled explanation, they claim now that it works for online computer-shuffled games too!

So much for the fact following the theory. Maybe it might be worth $40 just to apply for a refund when it turns out to be bunk. I wonder how long it would take them to refund your money?

BJ is a difficult game to beat, let alone make lots of money,
especially for the individual player. To make serious money,
you need a substantial bankroll, and many with access to
such amounts of money may prefer less riskier forms of
'investment'. The fluctuations can be horrendous. It is
frustrating at most times. The discipline and control required
would test a yogi.

So, anyone telling you that you can beat the game with little or no work, and a small bank IS A CON ARTIST.

Otherwise, there would be no BJ offered by the casinos.

After all, sales are limited to a paultry $4,000,000 gross. Admit it: some people are just real, real charitable. Besides, at the $3,000 per diem win rate you'll earn the purchase price back in less than four and a half minutes. Buy two copies: maybe you'll earn $6,000 a day. In fact make them a real deal (these suckers obviously don't realize the value of what they have): offer to buy the whole 100,000 copies to keep them this gemstone out of the public's hands. That would be the smart move.

Your Caribbean lifestyle is just a figment of your imagination...If by some strange conincidence, you are actually telling the truth, you made your money from the poor saps who sent in $40. for your system, certainly not from playing it.
