The European no hole card rule in the UK.
I think this rule is played all over the UK (tell me if you've found otherwise). Now while tryin to figure out the house edge in your local bj game people reffer to books and house edge calculators to get a figure. Try here http://www.wizardofodds.com/blackjack for a large table of rule variations notice on the wizards site he lists the european no hole card rule as giving the player a - 0.11% disadvantage. But is this assuming if the dealer has a blackjack his blackjack wins all even against a players blackjack or hand totaling 21?
Because i have played in casinos in the UK where a dealers blackjack does not beat my blackjack or my hand of 21 the result is a push.
So if someone was trying to figure out the house edge in the UK then they should not put the european no hole card rule of -0.11 into the equation.
Or have i gotten hold of the wrong end of the stick and the reason the ENHC rule gives you a -0.11 disadvantage is the dealer only takes his second card once all other players turns have ended? Although i can't see how the dealer taking his second card after all other players turns have finished gives the player a disadvantage.
Recently i picked up a leaflet inside a casino in the UK its the house edge leaflet. Its blackjack section appears as -
4 decks
(best technique) 0.51%
(0.85% where the dealer may draw on soft 17)
6 decks
(best technique) 0.55%
(0.89% where the dealer may draw on soft 17)
Best technique being basic strategy.
The house rules for the six deck game were -
6 decks
dealer hits S17
Double after split
Resplit pairs up to 4 times
Double on 9,10,11 only
Can't split pairs of 10's, 4's, 5's
blackjack pays 3 to 2
Only 1 card on split aces
no surrender
insurance pays 2 to 1
No re splitting of aces
Now is it just me or is the leaflets info wrong the house edge for there 6 deck game is not 0.89 (H17). I get it at 0.706. What does anyone else get?
I can't see how the dealer hitting soft 17 gives the player a further disadvantage of 0.34 this figure seem to high to me. (if i were to go off the leaflets info)
Any thoughts, input appreciated.
