I had basic strategy tables generated online from two different sites and both said that for 6 decks, DAS, Stand on soft 17, with late surrender, you should surrender a hard 17 vs Ace. Does this sound right? (I don't count..yet...so I need the proper play based solely on using basic strategy.)

In summation, late surrender hard 17 v. Ace in H17 games, and stand on hard 17 v. Ace in S17 games. The only composition dependent exception is that you should hit on (9,8) v. Ace in SD-H17 games; however, it is not worthwhile to memorize that exception because SD games with late surrender are very few and far between, if not nonexistent.

That should say 'stand' instead of 'hit.'

in conventional (late) surrender, you surrender 15, 16 and 17 against an ace if the dealer hits soft 17. If the dealer stands on soft 17, you only surrender 16.
However, if you have EARLY surrender (surrendering before they check for a blackjack), my god, you surrender just about everything. 5,6,7 and 12-17. However, one is more likely to find the Ark of the Covenant than to find Early Surrender (at least, ES in a First or Second world country...)

With late surrender, which is what the original question was about, you're only supposed to surrender on Hard 17 v. Ace with H17!!
