I remember reading that the Super 7 sidebet can be beaten. I think it said that the bet becomes positive as soon as there is one more 7 per deck. Does anyone have any information on this??
The casino I play has introduced the bet this year and I am thinking of keeping a sidecount of sevens if it could be profitable.

have a casino vig so high so as to make them virtually unbeatable. Furthermore, super 7's sidebet is usually limited to $1 which will slow the game down losing way more Ev than any potential Ev you may gain from the sidebet achieve. The game is also dealt from a 6 deck shoe which makes keeping track of 7's even harder. (you don't get much depletion or excess as a result).
You get dealt a pair of 7's every 169 hands.
I have tried this at home and I do not find keeping a sidecount in addition to normal hi-lo to be that difficult. The game I play is not the best anyway and there are almost always people going for the sidebet at my table, so I would not slow down the game that much.
Would I really loose EV if I keep the sidecount and go for the super 7 in the rare occasion that it becomes profitable?

For the 6 deck shoe:
Count every non-7 as +1.
Count every 7 as -12.
When the TC >= 6, make the bet. Thus, off the top, you need the first 36 or so cards to be non-7's in order to make the bet. If have seen running counts in the 90's before using this count, but have not yet hit the big payoff (as 7's drop all around).

No you wouldn't, but this is quite a volatile wager and you might damage your bankroll growth. It is hard enough to get in the long run as a card counter as it is. If, in addition, you have a constant drain on your bankroll punctuated by only occassional big wins, you may be in for an unpleasant ride. If you try this out you will see what I mean, its like playing blackjack whilst simultaneously buying positive EV lottery tickets.
you could possibly start counting them then.I believe it was Blackbelt in BlaCKJACK or attacking the shoe that it said something about once a deck is 2 7's light-it's an even bet compared to the 10-11% dissadvantage.Willi.

Is this regardless of how many decks there are?
Say I play a six deck game and after 1 deck is played, only two sevens have come out - this would be the point where the house edge equals zero as you stated in your article. After the next deck is played, 6 sevens have come out (including the previous two). We still have only two 'extra' sevens in the remaining decks, but more cards have been played. Am I right that I now have the edge, and is it no longer just an even-money bet?

What interests me about this bet is the possibility that a less-than-thorough shuffle may create a significant bias. If you only riffled the cards a couple of times then a clump of 7's would be likely to be preserved through the shuffle, leading to a positive expectation for the 7's wager throughout the subsequent shoe. Such an effect would be much stronger in terms of expectation than the very minor effects on the standard game of blackjack.
It is worth mentioning that shufflemaster on their website note that prior to the invention of csm's bonus bets such as super 7's were less common because of concerns about the integrity of the shuffle.
