Sundowner in Reno to close.

You have until Dec 1 to play a deeply dealt D9, P21, SD, with a $5/$100 buy-in bonus.

A shame that the Sundowner, with some of Reno's best games, has to close, while ploppies flock to burn joints like Silver Legacy, Eldorado, or even worse, the Thunder Valley CSM Outrage.

Sundowner was always one of my favorite Reno stores, despite several backoffs there. They were always polite and professional about it. I'll miss the place.

I agree its a shame the Sundowner is closing. It was a nice, small, laid-back casino with favorable conditions. I had more success there than anywhere until June this past year when I was rather rudely told not to return to the BJ tables. Nevertheless, I was going to return (different shifts) after the beginning of the year. Like Alexander Mundy and LVBear584, I will miss the place.

Even with counters around, it doesn't seem possible they could lose
money on operations. Do the owners of these small casinos gamble themselves? I would think the license alone would be worth a fortune and be difficult to get. Someone must be in the know.

As Alexander Mundy accurately described, the situation in Reno is deteriorating quickly. Its too bad, as I love playing there. But with the exception of a few large casinos such as the Atlantis, Peppermill, Nugget, ED, & S Legacy, they are being hurt big-time by the Indian casinos in California. This is a deplorable situation as the Indian casinos don't seem to have any competition and therefore offer negative BJ conditions.
