BS dictates that I split 4's against a 5 or 6. When the count is high enough, however, I need to double 8 against a 5 or 6. My question is, which takes precedent? It seems logical to me that at the correct count I should double my 4's, since I'd rather have 18 than two 14's, but splitting gives me the potential to re-split or double, getting more in play when the dealer should bust.
I'm guessing someone here knows the definitive answer. Any help?
