I have been out of the 21 scene for a few yrs. I am interested in playing again, now that maybe I won't be recognized! I currently have an old copy of Blackjack Analyzer. I am looking to buy whatever the latest and greatest software that is out now. I live in Reno and I play mostly single deck, of course. I am interested in finding software that will support multi-parameter counting systems correctly.
Some ramblings......Currently, I am leaning towards simply using the hi-low with a blocked count of 7's and 8's to help the playing efficiency. I believe the hi-low is, in a practical sense, as good and easy as anything for strictly betting purposes. Obviously, for single deck, the playing strat could be improved tremendously. 1 thing that everyone seems have ignored about the illustrious 18 is that the illustrious 18 changes if you are not using a big bet spread! I have proven this countless times in simulations. If you are using a small spread in single deck, your "illustrious 18" numbers would include a heavier amount of you 12 - 17 hit-stand plays. (I mention the I18 because I believe that side-counting just to improve the hit and stand between 12 and 17 will be enough to seriously change the win rate. I am not too interesting in learning the appropriate # for soft 18 against a 2 with the correct adjustment of the 8 side count.... yawn.... would probably make me about 1 cent a yr. more.) To me, it would then seem obvious that a side count of 7's only with the hi-low might be a powerful yet simple system. Since I already stated that the 12-17 hands are proven to be more important, would side counting 8's with a small spread make any sense? maybe not as much.... Should I therefore block the 6's and 7's? probably.....Yes, I know the hi-opt with the 7's would be better... but how much? How much harder would it be to side count 2 denominations? Can I still get drunk and slaughter these places using a system like that? Any suggestions on that would be appreciated also. But, what blackjack simulator will support my needs? Thx in advance...... also in advance, I already know the Gordon Count with the block set of 6-7-8 may be best.... I will look at that too...... Please tell me something I don't know like I told ya all about the Illustrious 18! Check it out cause I AM right! No offense Don, plz.... Your Blackjack Attack book is well done..... I am sure you are aware of the illustrious 18 changing around a bit.... but can we expect you to put everything ya know into 1 book? no..... The book was also aimed at shoes.... I seem to remember a quote in the book that went something like this.... "The slobbering drunk routine is for Reno. NO THX!!! That will never fly in A.C.!"
