Single vs. Double deck odds

Lawrence Revere stated in PLAYING BLACKJACK AS A BUSINESS, that he liked to play double deck because the cards flowed more evenly; or something to this effect(not quoting).

But it just stands to reason that twice as many cards must puts us at a somewhat disadvantage. Not like 6 decks verses single; but a disadvantage I believe.

After all, Revere was from the era of 'fortrain' and before in computer simulations; only Julian Braum or Thorpe types to gather statistics from.

Anyone out there got any statistics or know the odds between single and double deck?

I think Revere meant that...

The fluctuations in advantage are less dramatic in DD. This leads to a betting style which is easier to disguise than the wild bet jumps that would be optimal with single-deck.

DD is an inferior game to SD in mathematical terms, that is not in question.

After all, Revere was from the era of 'fortrain' and before in computer simulations; only Julian Braum or Thorpe types to gather statistics from.

The fact that multiple decks are worse for the player was known by Thorp and Braun, and probably even earlier. It is obvious that the gain from the blackjack bonus is smaller with DD, that can be worked out without a computer. I think Revere just meant something else.
