single deck
You can use a generic multideck strategy (4 deck) on a single deck game and give up very little. I ran the sims and did it myself my entire career. Since most sd games are H17 and multideck games are S17 you should learn the 5 most important deviations for the H17 game if you don't already know them:
15 v A
16 v A
11 v A (Doubling)
A7 v A
99 v A
A lot of sd players like to know 77 v A for completeness, but it doesn't make the list and doesn't contribute greatly.
Most sd games are no doubling after splitting so you should know those numbers as well although it isn't critical, if my memory serves me correctly. I memorized them anyway after a few years because on occasion I started running into this rule on deeply cut multideck games.
BTW, unless sd is dealt a fixed number of rounds and it is deep, the game by its nature lends itself to preferential shuffling, intentional or not. I know a lot of plsyers who never did well at SD and those who consistently did well played deep pen. Although many pundits insist it is good, Rule of Six is not deep pen. It is merely adequate if one insists on a sd game.
The vast majority of counters I know made their money at 6 deck games and deeply cut eight deck games, with late surrender a considerable plus. I used to love the midwest 4 deck games. My personal guideline on a multideck game was no more than 1.25 cut off with S17. 1 deck cutoff was what I went out of my way for.
Lastly, try to find dealers who ask, "Just tell me when you want me to shuffle."
