Should we start a free Card Counting page?
The separation of Vegas BJ and Vegas Life on the free boards is great. It allows those who want info on shows and clubs to not interfere with discussions about casinos and BJ games, as well as trip reports. Im surprised you dont have a similar separation on Green Chip.
So far green chip has gotten by fine with one Las Vegas page. We add new pages in response to demand, rather than in an attempt to create volume that was not there to start with. Hopefully green-chip volume will grow to the point where we need to separate Las Vegas into two pages so that threads don't scroll down the page too quickly.
On the other hand, you do have separate groups on GC for Cover & Comps, as well as Card Counting. I would recommend new groups on the free pages for those subgroups as well, as it would move some of the discussions from misc BJ, as well as some from Beginner. You could even separate the counting board as Advanced Card Counting, or something similar. Then you could make the misc page BJ Other.
Probably we should add a free Card Counting page. If we do, where should we put it? Should the order of the first three free pages be Beginner BJ, Card Counting, and then BJ Other?
I was disappointed with Dons defection from the board, but overall I dont find very many obnoxious posts in relation to the multitude of helpful and intelligent responses written by most of the people who post here. Perhaps if you added these categories, the flaming could be kept to a minimum, or at least contained.
Don was spending way too much time on the Internet. Diverting time to other activities required cutting back on time spent on BJ21. At least that's my interpretation of the situation. The important thing to me is that Don and I still are good friends.
He and I have different objectives. Don wants to eliminate all objectionable posts, whereas I prefer to maximize the volume of quality posts. Eliminating objectionable posts requires a barrier to posting, and that barrier has the unfortunate side effect of restricting the volume of quality posts. Having no barrier to posting results in a higher volume of quality posts, and has the unfortunate side effect of receiving a few objectionable posts. Using postbusters allows the no-barrier method to achieve as high a signal-to-noise ratio as the barrier method.
