Seeking rock bottom weekday Reno room price

going to be in reno the night of thursday, sept 15/16. looking for a rock bottom room rate.

i used to count cards full-time in the late 1990s, but I wouldnt be surprised i am no longer in the casino computers. Still, I will make a few calls.

That said, I heard from another player that they are "giving away" rooms in Reno, especially on a weeknight (I am staying thursday nite). A really cheap rate with a buffet thrown in would be nice.

any advice or tips appreciated. I've been out of the Reno loop so long, I don't know where the deals are anymore.

Does anyone know of an insiders guide similar to the Las Vages Advisor, that covers the Reno area?

I haven't been there in a while, but JA Nugget used to have REALLY low rates on some rooms (not sure what they are called). You need to call to book them, since they aren't mentioned on the web-site. The rooms are tiny and are a bit unsafe (in my personal opinion), but I did stay there once for around $16 a night. When I stayed there, I felt the need to reposition the bed so that it physically barred the door from entry, if that tells you anything.

I have found that Cheaporeno.com is a decent resource for info about Reno casinos, including those that have decent but cheap rooms and buffets.

cougFan, thanks for the heads-up about ja nugget. very timely, as i was finding in my preliminary research that they, indeed, have cheap rooms, but not worth it if it is not the safest place.

also, i am going to a conference at the peppermill, coming out I-80 from the west, and it looks like driving to sparks is rather out of the way, at least a few bucks extra cost of gas.

still have to work the phones and see if i am on any casino databases. i was able to pocket chips at a number of casinos and be booked in their minds as a consistent loser, so hopefully they have record of that.

Call the casino and ask for a host. Tell them you're a player from a few years back and give them your story. Ask them what they can do for you. They might comp your room for a few nights and more just to get you in. You will probably have to play some. Sometimes comp wizardry is fun.

They have a motel style structure next to the main casino. Rooms are supposed to be cheap and should be at least relatively safe. Plus, its pretty close to the Peppermill.

For the benefit of the original poster, I want to point out that you are referring specifically to the cheap JA Nugget rooms called The Courtyard, which I agree are probably a bit unsafe. However, the rooms inside the hotel-casino itself are nice and safe as any property in town.

yeah i wondered about atlantis's strip motel. i remember it being there way back when it was called the clarion... then it stayed when it turned to atlantis.

i hope i am still in the database at atlantis. i still have to call an atlantis casino host. i was able to see the computer screen in my playing days, and i was showing 100% red - i.e. all losing trips (from ratholing chips) -- and room comps came easy. it was my favorite place to go in reno, easily. classy, great rules, single deck all over the place, great buffets.

went ahead and booked the room at the nugget courtyard. $34 including taxes/fees. just gonna fade the minor decrease in safety. $10 surcharge for internet is no good - have to workaround that one.

atlantis still had me in the computer, but said i have to show some play B4 giving me breaks. i'm not going to play, so nixed that. so many other former bread-and-butter crash pads are gone now - riverboat, sundowner, comstock, others.

Circus Reno may well have a weeknight room for about the same or less. It is much safer and convenient. The rooms are not plush, but usable -- probably nicer than JA Courtyard. A small benefit at Circus is that you can check in as early as you want; no 3 pm bullshit.

Yeah,i noticed that the prices had been "upped" because of the reno air races.

i had been barred- not just backed off -- at the circus/el dorado/silver legacy trio of casinos. would be interesting to know if that is still in their collective database and how it would affect their room offers to me. if i had more time, calling them out of curiosity could be interesting
