I have been so wrong, in that for 15 years I have been using Revere as a BJ ICON; only to have been reprimanded and set straight that he was a false Prophet!
Yes, according to Math Boy and BjTraveller and many others Revere *does not qualify* as a Professional Player in his 190 consecutive days play that he stated in Jan. of 1963.
On pages 140 and 141, of 'Playing Blackjack as a Business', Lawrence Revere, lists and describes 190 days of consecutive play. His highest win in this period is $1260, followed by 1130, 905, 880, 830, 730, while most wins are between $100 - $300. His greatest lost during the 190 days was $870, and $530 was his 2nd worst loss. His average or mean for 30 days play is $3531. His total wins for 190 days is $22, 365. He won 143 days and lost 47 days; so you could say he took 4 steps forward and fell back one.
Now I can't remember what the Minimum Wage was in 1963 in the U.S. But in 1973 it was either $1.60 or $1.80. A famaous actor in '63' was making $225 a week with Warner Brothers in Hollywood. So I'd say Revere's dollars were possibly equal to 6 to 10 time what a dollar is worth today.
Friends I'd like us all to bow our head in prayer.
"Forgive me for following a counterfiet professional. And for not 'depth charging' the casinos and burning the bridges for myself and all the bj players who will come after me. I really thought Revere's 190 days play were a testimony to his greatness, only to be corrected that he was a phoney, and leading me down the path of perdition and sin. As I hardly ever take the casinos for over $2000 per day. Father, thank you for these bj prophets who have straighted me out, and curbed me from believing in such nonsense as the 'false BJ Prophet Revere'. I now realize 190 days play straight says nothing Lord, he was playing for chomp change and I have followed a false idol of the bj community!"
THOSE WHO MAY HAVE JUST STEPPED IN TO THE FORUM MAY UNDERSTAND THIS POST IF YOU READ THE PRIOR "Chomp Change vs, GREED" posted by Count BlackJackula.
