Just back from a great trip to Reno. Great weather but quite cold- brrrrr- but dry and healthy. Sunny days (Feb. 2-4, 2002) in high 40's and freezing cold nights down to 18!
Invited free for a Superbowl Party. Great food and ambiance and gifts. Even though, I got this feeling that this is the year for PATRIOTS (flags flying all over!), I did not bet on the NE Patriots as I usually do not bet anything other than bj.
Gambled at the Hilton, Silver Legacy and Circus Circus, mostly at DD and 6D Shoe Tables. Here are the results of individual sessions that aproximately totalled about 4 hours.
Day 1
Session #1: BR= 8 units. Stopped at when it increased to 61 units. This was intended to be a slow start of a warm-up session. Just few weeks ago, on that trip, I had started aggressively (in S.L.T.) and lost quite a bit first and then I played catch up until my return without gains or losses but a tie. This was a lesson that I did not want to repeat, hence the caution and the warm-up slower start in betting. Profits of over 660% in about one hour. The good thing was I did not even ask for a marker and this boosted my spirits.
Session #2: Got a marker for BR=100 units. With a conservative play of only raising the stakes using money won, my BR crossed the 50% win limit triggering my MM. I placed few more bets and settled for ending the session (about 45 min.) with a total of 165 units. Profits of 65% and I called it a day leaving the tables at about 7:00 pm.
Day 2
Session #1: Started from own cash with a meager test BR=20 units. After 30 minutes I had made no progress at this relaxing "low height" table (no smoking, 6D) with a group of cheerful players. My time limit was hit and I changed tables for a DD. Played two hands at this table (4 players) in third base and soon two left and what followed to be a good luck streak for both of us at the table. My BR had become 50 units- in about 20 minutes time. Thus, I ended that session-settling for a profit of 150%
Session #2: BR=12 units. 15 minutes gone and I'm down almost 50% of my BR for session. Changed tables from 6D shoe to DD. Within 30 mins my BR turned into 45 units. I decided to stop at that point. Profits of 275%
Overall, the total BR used on this trip was 140. That yielded a net increase of 181 units- a profit of about 129% I consider this a good trip as cash expenses (free lodging and Superbowl party) amounted only 15 units. I consider the profits substantial. The previous trip (breaking even following a initial great losses) may have helped me to adjust timing in my strategy with positive outcome.
A trip that found me to exercising some prudence, discipline, strategy, and proper risk control is to be thought as successful. And yes, having a LITTLE BIT OF LUCK in the process is most welcom.
Anyway, isn't luck defined as preparation meeting opportunity? I believe that is true in playing bj too! Good luck!
