I remember seeing in a recent post that Red Sevens is the most obsolete system out there. As one who visits the casinos only occasionally, I've liked Red Sevens, because it's been fairly easy to maintain my skill at that count without spending more time practicing than is justified for the relative infrequency of my trips, and my recollection from the book is that it is in fact a pretty decent count, esp. relative to its simplicity (although I recognize that the book promoting the count isn't going to then say how bad it is); I also recall from my days trolling rec.gambling (in the good ol' days, way before the split into subgroups and the vast proliferation of spam and other garbage) that Red Sevens was fairly well respected (again, esp. in light of its simplicity). Have things changed, though, such that I'm just wasting my time with Red Sevens, and if so, can anyone tell me why--and also what other systems I might consider as a mere occasional player? (If it's relevant, I play both shoe and pitch games, and I use the count primarily for its insurance and strategy decisions--that is, I don't vary my bets that much, and certainly not as much as the system "requires" for optimal play.) Anyway, all suggestions appreciated...
