Recognizing Luminaries

What do you mean by attacking a person? Does calling someone a "big fat liar" count as an attack? Would it be ok if I took out the fat?

I haven't been posting that long and wanted to know how I'm supposed to recognize members of the bj21 community. Is it by how much they post? Number of mathematical equations in each post? There really should be a list of bj21 community members so that I can attack everyone else--oh, everyone else's comments.

What's a public figure? How come Bootlegger, adhoc and others feel that they need to defend public figures like ML? Is this just one person posting under the same handle?

Recognize that ML is an attorney who in practice has to do whatever he can for any client he signs---the concepts of legal ethics are quite interesting---and sometimes these twists are reflected in how he defends certain people and topics. In some instances the point he is defending is more his client than his actual views as he has been known to put up a few straw men in his posts. But here is not a court room and his personification of a cause does leave him open for personal responses. He appears to understand this IMHO.

If, as you say, you are new here, can you tell me just where on these pages you have found me defending ML? He is a stand-up guy and I would have no problem with defending him at all, but I haven't gotten involved in the current dispute with ML on this page. Perhaps you are referring to something at some other time or place.

For the record, ML, adhoc and myself are entirely different persons, as many here who have met us can attest.

You could simply avoid attacking anyone.

You are trying to read too much into the profession of ML. Whether ML is a lawyer or a molecular biologist, this doesn't make any difference in how he sees Floating Advantage!

For the record, and in the absence here of dear ol' gehrig, let me state categorically that
(a) I have no personal stake in defending nor in accusing ML or you or Schlesinger or anyone else in the so-called "Blackjack community",
(b) Your posts more often than not do not make sense (b1) grammatically, (b2) logically, and --going on a limb-- (b3) mathematically. You have been the cause of me running to my library more often than anyone else, which could be a blessing in disguise I suppose, but the truth is that even after getting massive help from the pros (the mathematicians) I couldn't decipher a lot of your math!, and
(c) I believe that you are actually a well-meaning person, albeit one who has taken a wrong turn in the psycho-chemical crossroads.

You don't understand the rules here. Adhoc is allowed to criticize anyone, but nobody is allowed to criticize adhoc, or anyone of his friends.

I guess you really think that when adhoc posts responses like (I'm reproducing this in full): "Three words: Tower of Babble", this is a reasoned argument. ad hoc should change his name to ad hominem, and you apparently can't tell a reasoned argument from a ham sandwich.
