I have heard it advised to buy chips before a busy weekend. I don't understand this advice. What is the advantage? Is the casino going to run out? Does buying chips slow down the game that much? Is there really a benefit to buying chips before a casino gets busy?
it worded like that. I usually buy at the cage, so that when I get to a table, it is not as easy to know whether I am doing well or losing, since the pit won't know how many chips I started out with. Only exception (I sometimes buy in at table but usually avoid it)I make is to always buy in on one of the 6:5 BJ tables, then complain as if I just noticed the tiny "blackjack pays 6:5" placard, color up and leave...
Good advice. Not only does this help keep your wins/losses from the casino, it is a subtle way to let those playing this rip off game realize that they too should color up and find a full pay table.

Been doing this for 6 months or so now. Bugs my wife (she is not a BJ player and doesn't see why this is a big deal, just don't play at the table.) Also bugs the dealers and pit bosses when I do it at a full table. Almost everytime I do this, someone asks "what is wrong with 6:5 payoff, it is better than the shoe games." I try to explain, as I am leaving, that 6:5 is not better, just figure out which fraction is bigger, 3/2 or 6/5...
If _everybody_ would do this, it might make a difference. A few APs doing it is probably just a nuisance...
