Professor Wong's Most Current Strategy Decision Numbers for High-Low?

Can anyone confirm which of Professor Wong's published strategy decision (index) numbers for the high-low count he considers the most accurate for 6-deck, S17? Using decision numbers between -1 and +6 I see slight differences between Wong's Blackjack Secrets Table 11 (1994 edition, printed 2003) and Wong's Professional Blackjack Table 9 (1993 edition, printed 2004). I grant that the differences are so slight as to probably have de minimus effect; however, as long as I am learning one set from scratch ... Thank you.

If you read the footnotes for the index tables, you will see that one set is derived from rounding the true counts and the other is derived by truncating the true counts. I believe most of the BJ experts recommend using indices that are derived by truncation and then using that same method during actual play. Whichever book has the truncated indices is the more correct one.

There are some conflicts between the strategy numbers given in Wong's latest printing of "Professional Blackjack" (PB) and Schlesinger's "Blackjack Attack 3." (BJA3) I believe these are "apples-to-apples" conflicts. Wong states on page 37 that one should truncate when using his tables. Schlesinger says that flooring is the current best method. [Note that flooring and truncating are identical at positive counts.]

As an example, page 213 of BJA3 (the "I18") says to stand on dealer 12 vs. player 2 at TC=4, but PB's chart says stand at TC=3. Another example is player 9 vs. dealer 7. BJA3 says stand at TC=4 and PB says stand at TC=3.

I know the differences are minor, but I am really curious to know which set of strategy variations are the BEST so that I just memorize one set and be done with it.

Based on your quotations from BJA3 I will modify my original post. The indices listed in BJA3 I believe to be the most accurate and up to date for the Hi-low count. I believe DS only lists the I18 however. The sim effort that compiled the data in BJA3 was extensive. I would trust it. The key to the original poster is to calculate your true count the same way that the indices were calculated. In this case, Flooring.

As you mentioned, there probably isn't much of a difference between the two sets of indices. I completely agree. If I were at the index memorizing stage again, I would most likely used rounded indices. Check out the link to Arnold Snyder's Hi-Lo lite article. It specifically discusses the necessity (or lack thereof) of index precision.
