It's cheaper to offer only one version of the newsletter than to offer multiple versions of the newsletter. That fact is independent of the cost of offering one version.
If all I care about is the Vegas conditions, why should my membership fees pay some slumball in Mississippi?
No part of your membership fee goes to any slumball in Mississippi.
Perhaps you should ask your subscribers which reports are the most important/useful? Then you could decide which reports are most financally viable.
We try to balance the expense (time and money) of gathering information with the market for that information. For example, more than half of the money we pay reporters goes to the five who cover Las Vegas.
BTW, am I grandfathered cost-wise having subscribed prior to the price increase?
You will not be subjected to the new price until renewal time rolls along. You will receive all issues that you already have paid for at the previous price.
