This is the problem my coal miner friends have--the ones Sun Runner made fun of so ungraciously on bj21. I find it extremely offensive that anyone would characterize my very hard working friends as lazy because they have trouble with this process.

Maybe someone can search BJ21 for me and find where I did. I've bagged on you guys plenty but it was your intial implication that OPP was so easy that even coal miners could learn it.

One of my coal miner friends was laid off from the mines. In order to get a new job, he had to be able to make change--to subtract, for example, 87 cents from a dollar.

I had to spend a full day with him teaching him how to do this, because he had never learned how to subtract a 7 from a 0 in the crappy public schools in this country.

This friend is able to use the OPP count.

Well, Bravo!! I hope this same friend will be able to keep up with all the new enhancements coming OPP's way. Otherwise, I will guarantee this friend of your's will get his small BR swamped by variance. He'll no doubt thank you later because I'm guessing this guy isn't playing for comps.

BTW, if you can't subtract 87 cents from a dollar, it's not the crappy public schools fault.

And further, why you insist on pointing out that it is your 'coal miner' friends who seem to be challenged in this regard, one can only wonder. Isn't the descriptive word 'friend' good enough?

People come to Blackjack Forum and gambling looking for a way toward financial freedom.

What they get from the blackjack product and ego pushers is .a loathsome, deceptive, high-pressure sales pitch designed to steal their bankrolls before they hit the reality of card counting in casinos and give up.

What they are going to get at Blackjack Forum is help in getting what they actually came to us for.

And you guys can either be part of this, or Arnold and ETFan and THopper and Molly and Carlos and other friends around here will take care of it ourselves.

Thanks for leaving me off the honor roll, but no, I'll never be teaching anyone to 'count' as an on ramp to the financial freedom highway.

The OPP is the most simple count I've ever seen that actually has value. It is a real help for the people who need it. I am giving it to friends to help them get started, and other very serious and professional players I know are giving it to friends to help them get started.

People who need it? Get them started doing WHAT!?

The OPP will remain here, for free, for new arrivals, in a prominent position, with our recommendation.

In a prominent position .. that's rich .. next to the Blackjack Historian's crap (are you gonna own up to that or not?)

And we will keep telling players that, if what they're looking for is money, card counting is not the answer for them and won't be the answer in the U.S. no matter how much of their bankrolls they blow on the product pushers' expensive crap.

So why did you teach your friend, who can't even count change and just got laid off, to play BJ at all !?!?! Further, how does this guy have the luxury of making road trips to Atlantic City?

Did you read MathProf's latest post on your board regarding some of the dillusions (my word) the OPP future practioneers may be living under?

I've earned much less than her, no doubt, but I've made my share. As for acknowleding my mis-statements, and there have been a few, I've owned up to them all. Hell, you've corrected me once or twice.

What really pisses them off is that Carlos provided the system for free.

Pisses me off!? I love free. Free is great. Retail is for suckers. I've never said a single word disparaging Carlos, his effort, or his method of distribution.

And speaking of free, I'm kinda hacked I gotta spend money for Blackbelt in Blackjack III. Maybe Snyder could post his next book on the net, for free. Believe it or not, I'm looking forward to getting it. I probably won't be able to get it signed though, ya' think?

In late 2004, all over 'that site', there was conversation about the GTB Speed Count. Viktor Nacht, on August 4, 2004, summed up the general consensus (at least for 'them') pretty well .. "This seminar is an absolute waste of money." I thought that was pretty harsh, but, none the less. And I've said more than once, and recently, that I thought Shackleford's review was pretty much a waste of effort.

So, what then?

Maybe Radar went to that same crappy public school her friend went to. He can't count change and she can't read.

Or maybe she thinks not many folk read her board anymore and she feels free to .. well .. feels free to say whatever makes her case that day.

I don't know. But about carrying our 'relationship' on in private; no thanks. I've seen what can happen to private e-mail in their possession. Add'ly, I prefer one handle and the light of day.

Once upon a time a book was printed named Blackjack Ace Prediction. The book contained many valuable ideas. Indeed although some of the ideas were known by a few; they never before had been placed in print for the general public. Near the end was a page with some math. As is common in new books of this sort, the math was not perfect. So, did the kindly folk at BJF offer their help? (RGE did.) Well, AS called the author and had a chat. He gave no indication of what was about to happen. They launched a campaign against this book like nothing ever seen before in the BJ field. Nine articles trashing the book. Nine. Two articles written by ET Fan explaining what was wrong with the book, neglecting to mention the fact he had not read it at that time. Phone calls to reviewers asking them to pull their reviews. Other reviewers reputations trashed. No effort whatever to actually improve the field of study. A simple act of destruction. And zero help to anyone wishing to learn Ace Prediction.

Now we have a new article in BJF about a count called OPP. Guess what. Just like the McDowell book, the math was not correct. It indicated a far better advantage than existed. So, did we immediately launch a campaign to destroy Carlos? Did we write article after article trashing Carlos and his count? Did we attack every person that said anything good about the count? No. I contacted Carlos immediately and in private and explained the problems with the math. I offered all of my software for free and have since mailed it. I did this before making any public comments allowing them to revise the numbers. Eventually the question was asked and it had to come out.

So what about the campaign against OPP and Carlos? Well, there hasn�t been one. No attacks against Carlos. No attacks against OPP. All we have done is say that it is not new, and provided the correct numbers and answered questions. I posted thousands of sims for every common situation free for all. Carlos hasn�t been called a con man, scammer, liar and all their other favorite terms. No one has said OPP should be destroyed. We simply think people should know the right numbers.

Now what we see on BJF is quite funny. Radar posts that everyone that has ever sold anything is a con man, scammer, and other such names. Well, by that standard, Dr. Thorp, Stanford Wong, Peter Griffin and Arnold Snyder are all scammers and liars. There are numerous posts from brand new aliases decrying the attempt by us to destroy Carlos and OPP for personal reasons. Post after post claiming that Carlos is being attacked by greedy, money-hungry crooks. But where are these attacks against Carlos? They don�t exist. My posts have been nothing but complimentary towards him. On the other hand, for the sin of providing sims; I have been the victim of false accusations by Radar, ET Fan and T-Man on a daily basis.

Now the punch line. They now are criticizing the very concept of mathematic analysis. The concepts of risk of ruin, bankroll requirements, optimal bet size, etc which don�t make OPP look good are being ridiculed. Where have we all seen such reactions before? Well, on progression sites. If the math doesn�t make your system look good, ridicule math.

No I am not saying OPP is a progression system. It is a very weak count. It has an advantage. Sims show the win rate to be 50% of KO Rookie (no insurance or indexes) or a third of KO. Offer it to people all you like. But offer it to them with the right numbers including risk calculations. Not hype that you can learn to beat the casinos in the car on the way to do battle. That is a recipe for certain loss.

When Jerry Patterson first brought out TARGET, I told him that there was no mathematical basis for this concept and that it wouldn't work -- that it was voodoo. His reply? "TARGET is above the mathematics of the game."

So your logic for not sending a personal letter in private is that you believe she will make it public. In order to prevent her making it public, you make it public yourself instead? If you don't care if it is public, please keep what you admit to be personal business away from the public.

If you were insinuating that coal miners are less intelligent than the average, you were out of line.

If her friend is gonna play BJ in any case, and if OPP is an edge-increasing tool (no matter by how much), then teaching her friend the OPP is absolutely correct, legitimate and the act of a friend!

IMHO, AS was under no obligation to give any kind of "warning" for severe criticism.

IMHO, the number of articles is of much less importance than their content. I have downloaded, printed and studied them all and I have not yet thrown out a single article as being redundant. There is valid criticism of the book in all of them.

What seems to be missing, from both sides, is the cool-headedness that's necessary for constructive criticism and dialogue.

Here's my Golden Criteria for such endeavors : I wanna test XYZ (a BJ system, a car, a software program, etc). I am asked if XYZ is good or bad. My answer should always be "I do not know. Not before I test XYZ to the best of my abilities". (Yes, I could respond "I do not know - but its author/maker/programmer has a good/bad reputation." Same kinda testing should follow in all cases.)

The amount of crimes and evil deeds one has committed and only Norm knows about and has to be the one to expose, is directly proportional to how long one opposes Norm.

I certainly don't want to replay the entire BJAP controversy. My point was that they made zero effort to help either the author or players wishing to learn about Ace prediction. It was a coordinated attempt to destroy the book and anyone that even reviewed the book; not improve our understanding of the field. In this very thread "syph" attacks again saying "you got your ass kicked." How can this be since I had nothing to do with the book. And then T-Man adds to the attack blaming me for things he claims I will do in the future based solely on his own MO.

Now when the OPP article came out, and had an eerily similar error in the exact same area; what was our reaction. Not to contact the author and ambush him. But to contact him; try to help him and advise he correct the numbers before the correct numbers come out. And once they did; there were still no attacks against Carlos. Yet the attacks on others for BJAP continue over a year after it came out and against people completely unrelated to the content or publication. Not just syph, Radar recently posted that my software was used to create these invalid numbers. Absolutely false. Neither I nor my software was related to any math error in BJAP. In fact my software is used by her friends on her own tracking team even as she advises everyone else that it is a fraud.

I'm just saying there are different methods of handling a problem. I like the way that helps the people involved and the advantage playing community as a whole.

Are you keeping up? Her friend just got laid off from his job. He apparently has math skills that are not adequate to count change. I'm guessing his financial resources are, shall we say, limited. I'm guessing he is not playing with money he can afford to lose. The sum of his apparent training was in the car, on the way. Driving him to Atlantic City to play BJ was an act of a friend? Come on. I hope she staked him to an adequate BR.

Yes. I would not trust her version of what I might say in private.

Things that get posted to a reliable site can be relied on. Things said in private, then repeated in public are less reliable. Especially if they are being repeated by one who has posted with at least three different handles -and I suspect a fourth; and most especially one who runs a board that now admits to, in lieu of busting a post, just re-writeing it for you.

In the small chance that you really don't get it, do a quick search on all topics related to Arnold over the past year.

As for Hi-lo lite, you never simmed it as it was presented in the book. Even after being informed of your error. Fortunately, ETFan released software for the public ... so commoners like "syph" can do our own simulations, without having to rely on the masters to tell us what to believe.

I still think there's a deeper issue here, my stance is that AP.com has very little value outside of strict cardcounting. Hence the need for selling the world's most accurate basic strategy cards (by Don, no less). You literally don't have much else to offer. The one atttempt at moving beyond that failed miserably (BAP), and we won't even get into that roulette system ...

Incidentally, you still selling that garbage?

Ultimately, I see you guys lacking quality. And I'm not the only one. How many full-time players actually are part of your community? Do you have any? We know that they have overwhelmingly sided with Arnold (re: HOF), and maybe, just maybe ... there's a reason for this.
