look, i understand what all of you are saying...but it doesnt mean you cant make it work...

hell a BS player can make a living (not a comfortable one tho) of just quitting while he's ahead (on the high of a fluc.)

ive made enough money in the last 6 months to safely put me in the wealthy bracket for all age groups (im 19)

i can in no way prove mathematically that the d'alembert system produces a positive expectation...

you CANNOT say that it is impossible for me to make money longterm...

i already have made decent money in the 4-5 months snice i started using all the techniques i currently use...

i am not boasting, i am not trying to start a forum wars,

im just saying how can you say something doesnt work when it obviously can....

it does for me, and im sure it does for other people....

if/when i get to vegas in a bit over a year (when i turn 21) ill be happy to prove my success...

an advantage which all of you underestimate is that you have the casino by the balls...you have the control....learn how to use it and it gives you just as much of an edge as counting...

the betting system i use isnt the only way i get ahead....

i use my head, control the play, control how much i win or lose etc...

just dont tell me it cant work when it obviously can....all you can really say is it probally wont

You are right. No one can say that it is IMPOSSIBLE for you to make money in the long term. Obviously it is possible. But if there is mathematical evidence backing it up, then it is fair for someone to say that it is improbable.
After all, for a counter who plays perfectly, well, they are playing with a mathematical edge, but in a very rare case, it is possible that in the long term, they might lose money. But because they have the advantage, then it is fair to say that this is improbable. Remember, this slim mathematical edge is what professional counters rely on to make it, and it is also what casinos rely on to make money. If casinos, which are obviously the most consistent and largest bread winners of all parties (duh) have such faith in the mathematical edge aspect that they would ban players who have the edge mathematically, then there must be something to be said for it.
On the other hand, casinos welcome players who use a betting system.
Just some food for thought. Just be sure to recognize what part of your evidence is fact and what is observational.
As I was saying to a friend today, there is nothing worse than sitting next to that idiot old lady telling you to stay with your 16 against a 9, and you hit and bust and she says "told you so" then on her next hand with the same cards, she stays and the dealer busts.
This might happen a dozen times in a row, but you and I both know that the correct move (if the count is unknown) is to hit, always, and this is based not on common sense but on a very very large amount of hands that were simulated, creating what is our basic strategy.
But do let us know how things go. I am a fellow novice, I just turned 22 and have only been playing for over a year, but a basic hilo count has been making some good money for me in casinos.
