Other players know i count

Was backcounting some shoe games the other night, and kept running across this chinese guy who was sitting at the 25 dollar table. Well, i finally was back counting the table he was sitting at, and when the count got good, i jumped in. Had a 16 vs a dealer 10, and i stood the hand. Then he turns to me and whispers "Professional Huh". And i just look at him, and was kinda surprised that he said it, i didn't say anything to him though, didn't know what to do really. Should i be worried that other players can tell i'm counting? I really don't try to hide the fact that i'm counting, but i was still a little concerned. What do you do when someone approaches you about counting?

Leave them guessing or confused. I wouldn't waste too much time back counting at any one particular table. You should move on if the count does not improve within a few rounds. I usually walk after one round if the count goes negative.
The whole idea for being successful and not appear to be back counting is do not linger for too long, just hit them hard and fast leaving the pit boss and other players guessing to "What the hell was that?"

He might have just been a regular basic BS player who didn't have a clue. Very frequently when we are counting, a player next to us thinks we should be taking that hit. He may have no idea that you've altered your BS predicated on the count. Don't forget, there are alot more of them then there are of us. I would have just said something like "yeah I wish". Very frequently people make comments at tables to lead us to believe they know what we are doing, but in reality they don't get it. And god forbid that one of them loses the hand because of you not making the play the way he thinks you should based on his version of BS. Be careful then that he has no dolls that look like you in his pocket. And whatever you do, don't give him a pin.

It is the equivalent of screaming! And screaming all the time and without reason is annoying .
