I just got Blackjack for Blood by Bryce Carlson. The strategy numbers given for the Advanced Omega II System are for multiple deck only. Does anyone know where I can find the numbers for single and double deck?
Page 135 has strategy numbers for doubling down on hard hands. I think those numbers are for multiple deck, because, for example, the index number for 9 vs dealer 2 is +4; if those numbers were for sd or dd, then I would expect 9 vs dealer 2 to be some negative number.
Are there some other pages in the book that I am overlooking?
You astutely note that the doubling index vs. 9 appears wrong and it is (from a pure EV perspective). Carlson (at a time before Risk Averse indice numbers were really understood) tried to work in risk- averse factors in his indices. To get straight EV numbers, use a simulator.
..considering Carlson recommends almost exclusively single and double deck blackjack in his book. I agree the double 9v2 index does seem a little high but maybe Carlson is sacrificing a tiny bit EV in return for less fluctuation.
Maybe someone can run a sim and discover the true accuracy/inaccuaracy of Carlsons indices for SD but I am quite comfortable playing the numbers as recommended.
BTW, does/did Carlson ever post on this site? Considering how often AOII is discussed on these pages a little feedback from the man himself from time to time wouldn't go amiss.
one can get the I18 for 1, 2, and 6 decks for the AO2. These numbers maximize ev. The indices found in BJRM do not include the RA indices. Rather, they maximize ev.
