I guess you mean KO. The pivot point is important...
since it's where you have the most reliable information about your expectation.
Not only your information about expectation is reliable at the pivot, but the advantage you have is high. In fact, KO is built so that the pivot point is when RC=TC=+4. A KO TC of +4 gives you an advantage of about 1,8% for a 6D game.
So, since it gives you precise information regarding your expectation and your advantage is high, the most important decisions can be made there. Most of the BS deviations are hence done when the count reaches the pivot and at that point it's when you bet your max.
I hope this helps. All of this information must be somewhere in the KO book.
And for software, most of the programs "support" KO. You just have to enter the point values and strategy as "custom". For KO you are done in five minutes. Casino Verite seems to be the best for training. I use BJ 6 7 8 though.
