Novice Counter Needs Help!

Hi all. Been reading here for awhile, but never have posted.

I live in the midwest and recently took a trip to a riverboat casino. I took about $100 and sat down at a $5 table. I am using the KO modified so I dont have to use negative numbers. I was at a riverboat with 6 deck shoe, dealer hits soft 17. There were about 3-4 others at the table.

Since I am learning I did not use a large spread. I use a 1-2 spread when the key point is hit and 1-5 when the pivot is hit. The table never produced a pivot hit. I was there about an hour.

The rest of the people at the table were playing BS well so that was not an issue.

My question is this, as a counter is this type of session normal? Should I bring more for a session?

Depending on the rules and pen, about 10 to 20% of your hands should be > pivot, but you will see no pivot reached for over an hour and a half every now and then.

You definitely were under bankrolled for the session with $100 spreading 1:5 @ $5/unit (even though you were spreading only 1:2 since you didn't reach the pivot). Flat betting five bucks can easily consume a c-note in under a half hour even at a crowded table.

Wait until you have a really nice bankroll, get those high counts, place those big bets out there, and proceed to lose every big bet.
