Sorry, Mort, but 1 to 2x6 is NOT a 1 to 12 unit spread, but rather the equivalent of a 1 to 8 unit spread. It seems that all of the players with experience recommended this for a spread on DD.

Alot of counters don't understand that a spread of 1-2X6 is the same as a 1-8 spread. I would guess that there are a number of PC's who would make the same mistake. Depending on where you are located, the PC's may or may not be educated enough (on BJ) to understand this.
then says to you: "Bye-bye". Most couldn't care less that the true risk you are taking is equiv. to a 1:8 spread.

I don't know a single player with experience who recommends that. From a cover and heat standpoint, your spread is much worse than 1 to 8. IN fact, some of the most experienced DD players I know think that going back and forth from 1 to 2 hands is one of the worst things you can do (from a cover and heat point of view).

If you are talking vegas tourist, no they probably dont spread
from one to two but it looks quite natural in small locals joints
where regulars do this quite often. Change the cards, steam, replace the missing hand etc. I think there is less heat from 10 to 2/50
than 10 to 100 round here, but I'm sure you know a lot more than I.
My understanding is that EV is proportional to the total amount of money on the table, regardless of the number of hands; risk of ruin is affected by the covariance between the hands. For equivalent RoR when spreading to two hands you should bet approximately 75% of your optimal bet on each hand.
So betting two hands of 6 units has the same RoR as one hand of 8 units, but higher EV. More money for the same amount of risk - in theory. In practice, it might increase your risk of getting barred instead.
