Newbie Open question on BJ

I live about 2 miles from an Indian gaming Casino which just started offering a one deck game with the limits being $5 - $500. Double down allowed on any two cards. They are dealing three hands to three players. I want to know what my edge is? If I play $5 until I get an extremely positive card count, then bet the limit what is my edge? If I then leave the casino after the one limit bet, win or loose, can I expect to win with this strategy, say 55 out of 100 times? Would I be less likely to be asked not to come back if I just make one limit bet say twice a week? I thought this strategy would give me a minimum amount of time at the Casino for my return on investment and since I am averse to the smoke, I would only spend 30 minutes or less in this environment.

You will be quite memorable to the pit if you bet the minimum, then jump to the max. You must observe gamblers; a gambler that can handle a $500 bet is not going to waste his time with a $5 bet. Furthermore, your question relies far too much on the short run. Nothing is certain to happen in those hundred hands, except the fact that you will stand out as quite the gambling oddity.

Blackjack is all about putting time in. Your goals should align themselves with the theory that you will play only good games, during good situations, and will put a good amount of time in on them. Playing a couple of hands and running out of the casino a few times a week will only assure that you never put much time into your hobby.

Two years ago I got my first barring at NYNY playing green/black DD.
At that time they had automatic shuffler with the predetermined pene
tration card at about 60-65%. My count system is the simplest plus/minus there is using no more than a 1 to 5 spread. However, I did manage to win $4100 with a $1K buy in. I noticed the pit boss glaring and making phone calls, so I decided to color up. She gave me a $5K chip and a black chip. I tipped her the black chip and left without cashing in. I came back on the next shift and decided to play some more. But, when I handed the dealer my $5K chip to cash in with, the new pit boss put his thumb on it and said "no". I got barred. I waited a year to for my next trip to Vegas. I then got barred at TI and flat betted at the Mirage. I walked over to the Riviera and was barred in 5 minutes with NO spread! They had to have info since, I had not played there in 3 years. Then I got 86d at Harrah's! A very devastating trip. It's been a year and I'm going back again. Any advice? I feel like a novice, not knowing all of the complicated counts that you speak of, but apparently I'm doing something right since I'm up $13K for the last 4 years and 7 trips playing 10 hours a day in 3 to 4 different casinos per day.

It's probably a waste of your time. The single deck games I've seen in So. Cal Indian casinos, will only deal one round before shuffling. Counting's not even possible at these games. Plus they take a house "rake" from the players. It's a total joke at these places and worth nobody's time.

It sounds like the act needs work. I've never seen you play, but I would guess that your act is not totally convincing. Have you read Burning the Tables in Las Vegas? This is an essential read. Optimizing the amount of time you are allowed to play is as important as any other aspect of this game.

In the end you want the casino to smile at you as you are hauling away the loot. There are some casinos that are so tight that they will sweat anyone that wins, but what you have described seems to be much more about the way you are playing, then the way they are watching. Study gamblers. On the outside look like a haphazard loser, on the inside be a machine.

It sounds like you gave away most of (if not more than) your EV for that session.

Giving so much tip is like telling them you have a bad conscience for winning so much. May be they even think that cheating was involved.
I wouldn't even have coloured up. May be they knew how much he won but there was no need to rub it under their nose.
