Newbie needs some advice

Hello Everyone,

I am new to blackjack...know basic strategy, but want to learn how to count cards. I see so many books on the subject, but don't know what is real and what is just phony fluff. I also see many systems on the internet to wonder if they are all scams. I came across a system on the internet recently, that caught my attention. I don't know how valid it is. Can someone give this newbie some advice on where to start? Here is the system that I came across:

Not sure if you�re for real, or just want people to check out this site. I would never trust sites that say every game in the casino can be beat.

I'll point you in the right direction. At the top of this page it says "Home", go to that main page and on the left side it will say "BJ School" follow that link to 19 free Lessons. This is the 'real deal'!

Start working on the lessons and see if counting�s for you. It will take some time and the skills you learn will help with all count systems. Then when you need a break you can search the past posts and read what members like "bigplayer", "Bootlegger","DD'",and "MathProf" have to say.

Think of it this way, if it was as fast and easy as that site said all the casinos would be broke by now. Put in the time and good cards to you...

The link SD gave you is the right place to start. Read a bit here as well, and pick up a copy of Stanford Wong's Professional Blackjack. All of this will set you back less than $20 total.

There is no "magic system" to beat the casino. It takes work, practice, and more work, but a real advantage can be gained.

I agree with the negative reviews of that Website which the other colleagues have made in this thread.

If you want a book to read, I would recommend the KO Book by Fuchs and Vancura, published by Huntington. I think it is an excellent introduction for beginners.

That book promotes the Knock-Out Count System, which is a reasonable count system beginners. But I don�t want you to think that I am pushing that. In fact, I would suggest learning the HiLo system instead. However, whatever count system you end up with, the KO book will give you a good understanding os some of the basic principles.

How are you going to get a blackjack after splitting 8's? This ridiculous stameent should tell you all you need to know about that website and it's "system." You have been given good advice by the posters above.
