new card design--box around the pips?

A casino just changed its deck design to put a box around the pips on the cards. Black suits get a red box with black trim, red suits get a black box with red trim. The boxes look fuzzy to the eye. Other than that the card numbers/indexes and pips are the same size. Why is the casino doing this?

I've seen the card designs with indexes in the corners which I've assumed are for the myopic. I am hoping that someone can solve this puzzle for me. Thank you.

A few guesses

1. They changed card manufacturers because they found one that would sell them for 2 cents a case less.

2. They are missing some new decks or routinely change the design from time to time to keep cheaters from pulling a switch.

3. Some idiot simply screwed up an order for new cards.

4. Someone with too much time on their hands was paid around $217,000 to do a study and found that people on average would bet 10^-843% more if the cards have fuzzy boxes around the pips.

5. It is a conspiracy by the casino to encourage you to get drunk as an experiment to see if the boxes then appear sharp.

Don't try to read anything into it. Card design changes are not unusual. You will likely see another change soon after the dealers and players complain of eye strain due to the fuzziness of the box.

What about the card backs?

Are they uniform?, an angle may exist here.

card backs standard design

The casino is using a standard checkered design without a white border and its logo in the middle. The paper is of good quality.
