I note that these tables are available for purchase via the internet.
Are similar tables also available for AOII users?
If not, can these Hi-Opt II tables for Ace and 8 side counts be used instead. The reason I ask this is because:
1) The counting system is quite similar
2) Aces and 8's are neutral in both counting systems.
3) Aces are used the same way and for the same value for side counting for betting purposes only.
4) The playing strategy indices tables are remarkably similar. Where they vary, it's usually by only 1 digit, and in some cases they are identical.
Has Bryce Carlson conducted a similar study of multiparameter counting, and if so, how can I obtain this information?
Finally, how does one test this data, as the side count value will change depending on the dealer's upcard, and I don't know of any simulation software that can cope with this.
I realise that in many cases, the side count adjustment is inconsequential, but there are a few occasions where it would be invaluable, particular with the Ace because of it's potency. If you're going to side count Aces, you may as well take full advantage of it's potential in cases where it has the most impact.
A case in point:
Running count is 6, 2 decks remaining (so TC is 3), and 3 Aces overdue
TC for betting purposes is now 6, so I maximum bet $150.
I receive 8,3 vs dealer Ace
No dealer blackjack.
I double down (correctly) but I know that those Aces are coming up.
Because I don't have any information to tell me to do otherwise, I play it by the book, but unfortunately, you guessed, I get an Ace, giving me a grand total of 12.
The dealer pulls a 7. (He could have pulled a 6, 8, 9 and I still would have lost.)
So I'm history and so is my $300.
But...
If I knew what the Ace side count adjustment playing was for this dealer upcard, I may have played it differently. I may have hit instead of doubled down. Then hit again, possibly for a winning hand, and even if not, at least I would have lost only my initial bet.
But I don't know when to hit in these situations because I don't have any information to tell me otherwise.
So...
Can anybody out there help me? Please?
