On my last trip to Vegas, I stop by the Las Vegas Hilton to check out how the mindplay tables were doing.
They have a new "improved" version. Like the old version there still is a hole on the right of the dealer in which she deposits the cards before dealing. After the machine verifies the order of the cards have been recorded, they are put into the shoe for dealing.
The new and additional feature is that the shoe now is hooked a peg on the table which has a lighted sensor, which reads the cards a second time as they are dealt from the shoe. I guess in a way this a backup feature for the casino to keep track of the cards before each one is dealt.
As a possible positive note, Caesars Entertainment Inc, which is selling the Las Vegas Hilton to a group which does not have a history of owning Casinos, has not installed the mindplay in any of their Casinos on the strip. If they were happy with the mindplay, why wouldn't they put them in the casinos they are keeping?
