MindPlay

I am a relative newcomer to counting, and have no previous experience with MindPlay. This weekend at Grand Casino Coushatta in Louisianna, they used an under-the-table sensor to track each wager. The dealer would hit a button next to the shoe before the start of each hand, which she said registered the chips in each betting square. I felt under the table, and there was a wired sensor under each betting position. Is this the MindPlay system I've seen mentioned in other posts? If so, I don't see any way in which this system could detect the unused cards in the shoe (as some seemed to suggest). Of course the system could be used to correlate betting swings with observations from the eye-in-the-sky, but to actually detect the cards in or coming from the shoe...I don't see how that would happen. Is my undertanding correct, or am I missing something?

Never, never play at any table that uses MindPlay.

Damn funny how a player can get arrested for using a "George", but it's perfectly okay for the casino to use one.....

and feel the scanners...perhaps there is a wire attached that you can yank out....oops!

I thought about that (yanking out the wire). It would have been very easy, but I'm sure I would have promptly been escorted out.

As for the danger of Mindplay...I was using a 1-8 spread counting cards, but others at my table (it was very crowded the day I was there) were betting even wilder swings, and they DEFINITELY were not counting. I didn't stay long, but never caught any heat. Nevertheless it made me uncomfortable every time the dealer pushed that little button.

The button you observed at Coushatta is not restricted to BJ it is on all the table games including the carnival games and I think BJ tables with CSM's, it is used to track bet size.

So this isn't MindPlay? I didn't play or observe any other table games, but it was on all the shoe games in Coushatta. There were some CSM games, but I didn't go near them...these were on the 6-deck shoe games.
