if it were me, I would just use my old betting ramp, but where I was betting 10 before, I would change it to 12. I would then adjust the rest of the ramp accordingly... If you want to be more conservative, just hold the 12 unit bet until the count goes one beyond where you would normally bet 10 units, although that is not going to be as effective since you will not see a 12 unit bet that often.
Seriously, what I do when the count gets good (and I'm NOT playing head's up) rather than add to an already large stack of chips is spread to two spaces. If it's done right, it will look like you are betting "less", when in fact, you have more money on the felt.
Two things, though. You have to be playing a game that will allow you to spread, as many won't. And...you need to be sitting at a table that has an open space next to you.
You also need to stay under the radar. Don't get greedy and blow out a good place to play in the future. You don't say whether this a DD or shoe game you are playing. Assuming it's a shoe game. If so, bigger spreads are more tolerable, go ahead and don't worry about it.
Many good books are out there that can explain this better than I can.
put out 12 units at +4 instead of 10. Put out 6 units at +2 instead of 5.
This way he can calculate the optimal betting schedule when spreading from 1-12 units to get the best EV possible from this type of spread.

I would definitely go to two spots as this move not only reduces variance,it also looks less aggressive.
