The only things I remember seeing on this subject were in "Revere's" Playing Blackjack as a Business, which was about the single deck game, and in Braun's How To Play Winning Blackjack, about the 4-deck game, which only included the statement (paraphrasing here), "you would hit only very few 3-card 16s."
