Agreed. But you said "successful" card counters. I would'nt classify someone as successful if they keep having to go to the well.

Again, agreed. But I thought we are talking about today.
I wasn't around to play BJ in those days. But I imagine that those who were, and were successful, had an inate grasp of money management. Also, my personal belief, is that the game was more easily beaten then -that money management did not play as important a role then as it must play now. Less pub, less heat, better rules, better pen, better spreads, all Griffin had were bad fax machines and radio phones.
