I will be heading for Vegas for a long (for me) 5 day trip in a few days. I'm a red chip player 1-4, 2-6, sometimes 2X4/6 in high counts. I've played using HiLo running count on my trips previously. I don't feel comfortable converting to TC, especially in 6-deck games, and have both won and lost.
This trip I am planning to play only 1 & 2 deck games, and have done a pretty good job mastering KO count.
Unfortunately, sometimes I think too much, and have come up with a quandry when it comes to SD. If I'm way off base forgive me, but I could use some advice here.
For example, in SD if there is approx 1/2 deck left, in KO if the count is +2 you double your bet. Since the final count at the end of the deck is +4, this makes the deck about where you would expect it to be. Isn't doubling the bet risky?
If the same thing happened in HiLo, and at 1/2 deck you were at a 0 count, you wouldn't be increasing your bet.
On the other hand, with 1/2 deck left if the HiLo count was +2 this would be a TC of +4 and you would be betting & playing strategy accordingly.
Does this make HiLo more powerful for SD than KO?
I plan to play KO on DD games, as I'm not comfortable with TC conversions, but which system gives me a better advantage at SD?
BTW, I've considered and rejected using a L2 count for SD this trip - maybe next one.
Thanks for your assistance.
Jay
P.S. I've done some unscientific sims dealing & betting both ways during my practice, and damned if I don't make more money on SD using KO. Maybe it's because so many more negative counts come up in HiLo?
