Joe Pesci in 21 scene in Casino

OK, I know this is a little off topic, but I figured this is the best place to ask this.

In the movie Casino with Joe Pesci, you may remember there is the scene in which he is in the casino playing BJ when he's not supposed to be there. They call Robert Deniro, etc.

In the scene Joe gets pissed everytime he is getting dealt a paint card. He even throws the card back at the dealer and it lands perfectly on the dealers shirt (hilarious, don't know if that was even planned).

My question is why would he be getting pissed when his first card to him was a paint card? I would be happy. Unless fo course he wanted to get an ace. Just wondering your opinions. Thanks.

I think that Director Martin Scorsese wanted to show the effects of brains vs muscles. Joe Pesci was just all muscle and no brain (i.e. Mob's enforcer), and Joe did not know good stuff when he's given one [i.e., big cards vs small cards].

On the other hand, Cardholers Casper Molee & David Leavitt are all brains and no muscles. Casper & David teamed up to peek at a dealer's hole card and beat the casino. Of course, Robert De Niro used his brain to uncover the scheme and ordered his musclemen to torture the cardholers. By the way, I got a really good laugh when the misbehaved Cowboy Craig Vincent got beaten up by De Niro's guards.

my recollection of the scene is that he already had a two card stiff, (can't recall the total) and then said "hit me" to the dealer who hit him with a paint, thus busting him. He threw the paint back at the dealer and said "hit me again" and the dealer hit with yet another paint.

How about a new blackjack carnival game, something like re-buy blackjack or substraction 21.
You got 15 hit a 10 to bust and can put up an additional bet for a card which will be subtracted from your total of 25. Hit a 4 and you have 21, hit another 10 and you are back to 15. Just one re-buy for hand.
Perhaps Pesci though he was playing this game.

Absolutely not!! NO NEW CARNIVAL GAMES!! lol (don't even give them an idea. lol) Each new game they put in they seem to take out regular blackjack games. :-( One of my local casino's recently had the game of "war" (which no one was playing) taking up blackjack space.
