Hi everybody
On weeknights I like to spend about four hours or so counting cards using the halves system. I have two choices. I can stay in the city and play dealer hits soft seventeen, six decks, double after split on any two cards cards no resplit aces (house advantage .58 as I calculate it from "Professional Blackjack". Or I can drive an extra one and a half hours round trip and play dealer stands on soft seventeen, resplit aces to four hands (.30 house advantage as I calculate it) with the other rules remaining the same as in the city. In both cases the shuffle point is about the same (1 to 2 decks)and six decks are used, but in the city where the rules are worse it is much easier to table hop and escape bad counts because the two city casinos are much bigger than the rural Indian casino.
With a bet structure of 5,10,25,40,50,65 for counts of 0 to 5, I figure a four hour return of about 50 in the city and 85 in the native casino.
Sorry for the long windup, but my question is this: Given the 13 dollars it takes me to get to the rural casino and the indeterminate amount I save by table hopping more in the city, plus the extra hour and a half of play I get in the city by saving driving time, I guesstimate that for these short sessions I might as well play the larger house advantage and get close to the same profit.
Would you agree with this decision?
Thanks for any thoughts
David
