Is It Worth It

4 Decks, H17, DA2, DAS, ENHC, Early surrender on Both Tens and Aces
2.5 deck penetration, limits:5-200 & 25-500

This is one of the games currently offered at a casino near my home. I was wondering if I was using basic strategy and Advanced red 7 perfectly what the advantage would be on this game? Is it worth playing with such a crappy pen.? What spread should I bet?

Does this Affect the Edge?

I don't know who told you this, but the two (surrender & insurance) are totally unrelated.

Insurance is a bet that the dealer has a 10-point card under his Ace up. If the count is such that you know that more than 1/3 of the remaining, unseen cards are Tens, then you insure because insurance has become a favorable bet. If exactly 1/3 of the remaining cards are 10-pointers, the bet is even; so make it or don't, your option. If less than 1/3 of the remaining cards are 10s & faces, then the house has the edge on the insurance bet; so you do NOT take it.

Surrender vs an ace is indicated with certain hands in BS and with the same and other hands at various counts using various counting stragegies. Thus, if the count is quite high, you might both surrender a 14 against the Ace AND insure. But off the top of the shoe, you would surrender 15s and 16s against the Ace and NOT insure.

I have another 25-500 game, 6 Decks H17, ENHC, DAS Double after Any 2 Cards, No Surrender, Insurance, Blackjack 3:2. 75% pen. With Red 7 what is the edge in this game, and is there a spread that can make it worth it?

Was told "hey, you just insured that hand so you can't then turn around and surrender it." Only happened once a year or two back...
