I've recently read that it is fairly common for dealers NOT to check the hole card to see if they have a natural when they have a ten showing; where I play in the midwest, they do check to see whether or not they have a natural. As far as I know, that is also how it was done when I played in Nevada; if it wasn't, then I just didn't notice the difference. Are basic strategies and the corresponding house edge figures based on the hole card not being checked when the dealer has a ten showing? If so, what differences are there, if any, for games in which the hole card is checked when the dealer has a ten showing? I'm thinking that certain plays, such as hard 16 vs. ten, soft 18 vs. ten, and 10 vs. ten might be affected.
