Horseshoe update
Horseshoe Ownership Before Regulators Today. State gaming regulators will consider new ownership for Binion's Horseshoe at a special meeting today. West Virginia-based MTR Gaming, which owns the Speedway Casino in North Las Vegas, plans to buy the downtown property from Harrah's Entertainment. Harrah's would operate the Horseshoe for at least a year. If the licenses are approved, the downtown casino could reopen as early as April 1st. The deal also means Harrah's would get rights to the valuable Horseshoe name, along with the franchise for the upcoming World Series of Poker. The event is expected to take place at the Horseshoe at least this year.
